Routes

DALMAC has five routes that begin at Michigan State University and end at the Mackinac Bridge. Choose the perfect route for your style of riding and your ideal Labor Day holiday weekend plans. Two and three-day routes are easier for new riders, those with not a lot of time off, and families whose children have started the school year. Five day routes give you maximum Labor Day weekend fun. To help you plan your ride we are making the actual map books available on line. Please note that the routes and roads used are subject to change. 5 Day West

The most popular DALMAC Route. This route often sells out quickly because it is the embodiment of bicycle touring in Michigan. With challenging routes through the scenic terrain of Western Michigan, and along the shores of Lake Michigan. This is what the DALMAC is all about for many of our returning riders.

5 Day East

The shortest 5-Day Route. This route, while still a good test of bicycling endurance, is the least hilly. It has scenic roads and miles of forests and farmland, but it is tuned for those riders not looking to “leave it all on the road” every day.

5 Day Gravel

NEW for 2024 – 5 Day East Gravel route. This route will utilize the same overnight facilities as the 5 Day East. Riders will experience mostly gravel roads on the way north, with some time on pavement to get to the overnight locations or where there is no other route option.

4 Day West

A Challenging Route! Each day has a choice of either a shorter or longer route (100 miles or more laid out for century riders). Choose long or short, whichever you want to tackle each day or ride 4 days of century routes for a quad century DALMAC!

3 Day East

A fun and exciting route for riders who like a bit of a challenge, but may not have the time for a longer DALMAC adventure. This route begins in Gladwin, and uses the 5 day East stops in Grayling and Indian River on your way to Mackinaw City.

2 Day East

The perfect road ride for DALMAC riders who only have Labor Day weekend days off school or work – this route begins in Grayling, so you’re already “up north” and overnights at Indian River before taking either a longer route through the Tunnel of Trees or straight up to Mackinaw City.

2 Day Trail

The shortest DALMAC route, and the only route that keeps you on a crushed cinder dedicated bicycle trail, this route begins up in Waters (just north of Grayling) and takes the North Central State Trail up to Mackinaw City, with an overnight in Indian River.
